Self-Directed Services: Participant Directed & Managed Care Services

Participant Directed & Managed Services (PDMS) is a self-directed service option. Self-directed means that an individual, family and/or guardian family chooses how to manage and deliver the services and supports as outline in their Individual Service Plan.

PDMS offers the greatest level of flexibility and choice and the most responsibility. PDMS families manage their budget and hire and oversee their service delivery staff. This level of flexibility also means that families have more choice in who they hire to deliver services. Family members, neighbors, friends or other service providers may be contracted to deliver services.

This flexibility is helpful for families who wish to have staff work when they need them (evening and weekends included). It is a great option for families who want more control on what services are being delivered and when they need staff.
